In partnership with the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), Nayong Pilipino Foundation (NPF), Intramuros Administration (IA), Tourism Promotions Board Philippines, the Urban Land Institute – Philippines organized the Philippine Parks Congress. The main plenary was held at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium on 24 November 2022, with stakeholders committing to the goal of making livable cities through urban parks.
As one of the fastest urbanizing countries in East Asia and the Pacific and with most of the country living in urban areas, the lack of public parks and open spaces was heavily highlighted during the pandemic as we did not have a clear concept of parks and how open spaces affects both our well-being and the livability of these urban areas.
With this, ULI (Urban Land Institute) Philippines joined the goal of building the foundation creating a national framework for the development of Philippine urban parks and sharing the best practices in maintaining and operating public parks and open spaces also presenting the winners of Women’s Leadership Initiative’s Paco Park Design Contest.
