BGC – ULI Public Library for Urban Sustainability (BU+PLUS) Launch
5 February 2020
ULI Philippines, in partnership with De La Salle University (DLSU), Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC), and Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), is creating the first ever ULI Library outside of the United States. Named the BGC – ULI Public Library for Urban Sustainability (BU+PLUS), the new facility will be located on the covered roof-deck penthouse area of the DLSU Rufino Campus, in Bonifacio Global City, Manila. The library also fronts a large open-air patio area that can also be used for social events. With construction currently underway, the project is scheduled to have an official launch by mid-2020.

The library will provide seating for about 100 users and will involve a combination of both printed and digital material provided from around the Asia Pacific and also the Americas. In particular, both ULI Global and the Centre for Liveable Cities (Singapore) have generously donated a comprehensive list of physical books and real estate materials to support library content. In addition, the new facility will function as a workplace for two local ULI staffers who have now begun providing layout and marketing services to ULI Asia Pacific headquarters and National Councils around the region.

Envisioned as an information and idea exchange hub for real estate students and professionals in both the country and the region, BU+PLUS will be a landmark project for ULI in the Asia Pacific. The project is a collaboration of multiple stakeholders who strongly champion the same advocacies: AIDEA, an all-Filipino design firm, now one of the country’s largest design practices, have designed the library under principal Jojo Tolentino; and CWC International, a multi-product company specialising in interior and architectural furnishing products, is our furniture partner.
The goal of the ULI Library is to become an important catalyst in promoting best-practice, conducting research, and sharing content across the real industry on local, regional, and global levels. The project will also double as a venue where ULI members and real estate practitioners can share insights and collaborate, while also serving as the headquarters of the Philippine National Council, in line with the organization’s mission of ‘Building Better Cities, Together’.
